Mad and MP3 streams

Will the Mad plug in play mp3 streams? I've been trying it so far, and
although it sounds absolutely fabulous with my files, it hasn't yet worked
with streaming mp3. /So, how can I use this to play my local files but still
be able to listen to MP3 streams.
