For those of you looking to have fun brought back into your listening
experience, for those of you looking for a DJ who doesn't take the music
or himself too seriously, for those of you just looking for a good time
this weekend, I offer you Toews on The Waves: the Show of No Fixed Format
(TOTW) and Radio Classics. See the bottom of this message for when and
where to listen.
This week on TOTW, in addition to all the usual suspects, we have two,
count 'em, two, tributes to the names of girls: one in the oldies portion
of the show, and one in the comedy portion. We drift a little further
afield this week and play a few tunes from the eighties in addition to our
usual fare of fifties, sixties and seventies. In our comedy feature, we
take a good long look at sports with such sports lumenaries as George
Carlin, Teh Royal Canadian Air Farce, Weird Al Yankovic, and the Arrogant
Worms; we get a little political with spike Jones and Vaughn Meider; Ray
Stevens looks at the Western genre on TV, and a whole lot more. It
promises to be a great time, and I hope you'll join me.
On Radio Classics this weekend, we have more fun and lots of laughs with
the Jack Benny Show, The Life of Riley, and The Halls of Ivy. And in the
last half hour of this week's Radio Classics, we begin a 7-part BBC
series, The Code of the Woosters by P.G. Wodehouse.
It doesn't get any better than this, so please do join me this weekend for
TOTW and Radio Classics.
