There were reports on Nextdoor of catalytic converter thefts from underneath
Toyota Prius’s this week in Rodgers Forge. Apparently they can be removed
within 2-3 minutes with two cuts using a small saw. The thieves sell them for
a lot of money due to the rare earth metals located inside them. Apparently
there is a “cat cap” that can be installed as a deterrent.
If you own a Prius, please be vigilant, park in your garage if possible, use
motion sensor lights around your parking area, and consider video monitoring.
