Dear Whitman Families and Friend,

 

The "Past" and "Future" President's of Whitman PTA Attended the San Diego
Unified Council of PTAs Founder's Day Dinner last night and the Whitman PTA
was honored for Outstanding Membership Program and for winning the National
PTA "Take your Families to School Week" Grant.

Here's a friendly reminder of what's happening around Whitman:

 

Yearbook Orders

Yearbooks are available for pre-orders.  Prices vary by month of order $18
through May and $20 in June.  Don't Delay, get your orders in Today!  Checks
are to be made payable to Whitman Elementary.

 

Whitman PTA Budget Committee

The 2012-2013 Whitman PTA Treasurer, Celeste Bobryk-Ozaki, is calling on
parents, teachers, and administrators of Whitman Elementary to participate
in the budget committee.  Check your student's backpack for a purple or the
school office for you to fill out to sign up to be on the committee.  This
is your chance to have a say in what the Whitman PTA will do for the
2012-2013 school year.  The committee will meet at least once over the
summer, more as needed.  Time and location to be determined later.

 

Field Trips

Now that testing is over and the school year is winding down, your student's
classroom may be going on field trips.  Be sure to check your child's back
pack for permission slips.  The field trip may also need parent volunteers
to serve as chaperones.  This is also a good time to purchase Whitman
Shirts.  Whitman PTA has an assortment of polo's and T-shirts for youth's
and adults.  Order forms are available in the office and are being attached
to this email. 

 

Merchandise:

Whitman PTA has inventory of youth medium and large T-Shirts with the cougar
paw in front - there is ONE youth Small shirt left!.  We also have youth
Polo shirts in youth size Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large as well as
in adult sizes for women and men.  Last year's youth small t-shirts and
zippered hoodies are still available.  As well as an assortment of adult
t-shirts, zippered jackets, polo's, and scoop neck tees.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Parents/teachers that wish to help make a difference at Whitman with the
Whitman PTA are welcome to help in the following ways:

 

Mission Federal Banking Days - Every Wed except the first Wed of the month.

 

School Site Council Board (SSC)

SSC Board is comprised of Parents and Staff of the school and participate in
making decision in regards to specific programs at Whitman Elementary. 

 

Get ready for Summer!

Kids bowl free summer program:

The Kids Bowl Free Summer Bowling Program is available in our community and
we thought that your family might enjoy this great deal.  Each child
receives 2 FREE Games of Bowling Every Day All Summer and last summer nearly
2,000,000 kids enjoyed this great program.

 

Here's How You Can Register Your Family 

 

1.       Go to www.KidsBowlFree.com

2.    Click on the State and then select the bowling center that you'd like
to 

participate at.

3.    Register your children to receive Free Bowling all summer long

4.    Sign up the adults and/or older children for the optional Family Pass
which allows up to 4 adult family members including parents, grandparents,
older siblings or an adult babysitter to join in the bowling fun.

 

Summer camps at Balboa Park are now available and most are half-days and
different camps can escort children to other camps.  Below is the link.
