Board, we must understand that by having an open Halloween party in
the first place, we are embracing the community. We will have people
thinking the night of Halloween is the best for specific reasons, and
we will have people thinking a Saturday evening prior to Halloween is
best for different specific reasons.
This year the WECA membership is the largest it has been in years. We
will not instantly grow the membership counts. WECA will strengthen as
we take the time to discuss our thoughts and then make informed
decisions.
I appreciate your thoughts on this matter, and was looking for an idea
of where the majority fell for which night would be best for our
organization to host this event. I started off with a proposed date,
based upon the history of WECA. And it made sense to me for us to
continue down that path.
We will make this decision within the Board. With that said my
interpretation of this discussion is Saturday October 28, 2017 is the
preferred date.
Hopefully without starting a wholly war, I would suggest 6PM to 8PM
for the time of the event.

My thoughts are that as we are creating the bylaws etc, we state that we
are a "community". I think we should host the party on Saturday night as
our goal is to reach out to the community and the building be a unifier

The custom has always been to have the party on Halloween night but I
believe that we should adjust the party this season and have it Saturday
night. We could still be opened on Halloween evening hand out candy as
well to the children that may walk the neighborhood.
As we want to follow through with the article that was written up about
the WEST END CIVIC ASSOCIATION...how we are rebuilding and being an
example

We are diligently working on obtaining insurance so that we can be

a board meeting schedule for 10/16 at 7PM, and if we were to take that

Hi Board.
Would you please let me know if you agree with the following two
proposed events. At the very minimum I propose that we must have
insurance on the building prior to hosting any events. It would be
absolutely horrible if someone was injured in any way, and if that
person needed to take legal action to cover medical and
pain/suffering. Without insurance in that horrible scenario, the
association would lose its assets (i.e. the building).
Meet the Candidates Night
I spoke with Mrs. Scott about the event Bill Wall proposed to us
during the Board meeting. She answered a bunch of my questions. I
think this event will be very doable by us. It mostly will come down
to providing a venue for the event, not too much in organizing is
necessary since the committeemen for each party would take care of
putting the invitation out to each candidate. They would organize
with
us when the list of participants is known,. Each candidate would get
a
few minutes (based upon how many participants) to speak, and then
there would be a set number of minutes for questions, then on to the
next candidate, and so on. After the last candidate, we would
conclude
the event.
Mrs. Scott already has a couple documents which will get us off and
moving in the correct direction. One is the agenda document, and one
is a flyer.

If we are able to host a candidates night, then why couldn’t we host

Halloween party, right? Ideally we will have an Activities Committee
after the general membership meeting (on 9/11/2017), to run with

I need not mention, but will anyway, the positive reasons for hosting
these two events. The community will see that we are indeed active,
involved, and growing.
