Senior Developer The Senior Developer role within CCI pushes a developer further into the core API coding and application architecture. The Developer should have a solid introduction to database development with MySQL and/or Oracle (PL/SQL). This position prefers three to five years of experience in coding and web application development. The emphasis for this position is on higher-level code writing of Community Connect Inc.'s API and back end projects, database design and implementation and working more closely to help enhance the knowledge and skills of the Associate Developers on your immediate team. The Senior Developer is able to provide and expected to provide leadership and a voice in both code as well as project management and initiation. Responsibilities Development (85%): . Coding of Community Connect's API . Assisting Technology Leads in creating and implementing project architecture and requirements . Completing work assigned by Technology Leads and Production Managers . Adhering to and leading standards compliance to the established CCI coding guidelines . Ensuring quality of developer work through peer code review and direct work with Associate Developers Administrative (10%): . Estimate task timeframes for work completion . Lead tasks within a team's project - promoting the team's success through active encouragement, participation, and planning . Completing timesheets Management (5%): . Providing guidance and mentorship to Associate Developers on your team . When required assigning work to Associate Developers, while being held accountable for completion with quality on time Required Skill Sets: . Thorough understanding of programming concepts and principles . General understanding of the C language . Good understanding of the PHP programming language, HTML, and JavaScript . Advanced knowledge of web protocols and programming requirements . Advanced knowledge of the UNIX operating system (preferably Linux) . Willingness to lead in a structured team environment . JOB PURPOSE: The Managing Editor is responsible for managing a team of Site Editors who provide content and U.S. Ethnic market expertise for our three sites AsianAvenue.com, BlackPlanet.com and MiGente.com. Each of our sites have a Site Editor who are responsible for delivering content for various category areas of our sites including News, Dating and special seasonal packages such as Black Music Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Site Editors are also responsible for providing information and perspective of U.S. Ethnic audiences in order for our sites' products and services to be better positioned to serve its members. The Managing Editor is responsible for managing this team of Site Editors to ensure the quality and productivity of their work is at a very high level. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Managing and developing a team of Site Editors . Working with a various business/product teams including Advertising Sales, Jobs, Dating and Community to develop content and ethnic market strategies . Proposing, Producing and Maintaining Content Areas by working with freelance writers, third party content providers and media partners. . Works with Site Editor staff to develop features, stories and series; coordinate the online production and updating of online programming; procure photos; and edit and write copy . Responsible for overseeing staffing, scheduling and budgeting . Generating Site Brand Positioning Statement and Guidelines . Assist is Ethnic sensitive Product Requirements gathering . U.S. Ethnic Market research and Data Gathering . Sourcing potential partners that are ethnic market focused including community leaders, organizations and companies. . Quarterly Planning QUALIFICATIONS . BA or higher in English, Journalism or related field preferred . 7 to 10 years of relevant experience . Senior editing and management experience at a newspaper, magazine or news/feature oriented Web site . Superior writing and editing skills . Great organizational and communication skills . Management experience . Hands on knowledge of online community / online marketing is a plus . Strong knowledge of U.S. Ethnic markets is required .
