Thanks for posting, David. I hope youll continue to do so.
It's good to be reminded frequently of the availability of the Warwick
web site. However, it is also good to remember that the internet offers
two kinds of communication technology. Internet people refer to "push
technology" and "pull technology."
Push technology "pushes" information out to those signed up to receive it
-- in e-mail. All they have to decide is whether to open the e-mail.
Pull technology refers to availability of information on the web, where
people must decide to go and look for it.
If you want to reach people with your message, which would you choose as
the more effective means of communication?
This may be a generational thing, but I don't know anyone who fires up
her computer and thinks, "I wonder what's new on the [fill in the blank]
web site today," unless the site is related to their work or an activity
of compelling interest.
If the elementary school newsletter didn't come in e-mail, I doubt I'd
remember to look for it on the web. As it is, I didn't even know it
existed until David posted it.
One way people with web sites get people to look at their material is to
fire off email to subscribers ("push") to tell them something has been
added ("pull.")
Ed, I invite you to post the link (and brief description) on The L when
you add something to your site. You have the best of both worlds at your
disposal.
