I see this as a multi-argument situation...
If they expect us to honor the district agreement then they should too.. it's a
contract.. they had enact special legislation to bypass it last time, they
should again unless we allow it, which we should not.
If they wish to forgo the agreement then let us out of the unfunded liabilities
then we can talk about them not honoring their side of the agreement....
Second, they should encourage northfield kids who are close to the line to come
and balance out the class sizes between the two schools... worse case scenario
would be they would move back to Northfield with all other WCS students if they
close WCS and move to northfield / WCS stays in this district...
Third by cutting off kindergarten to choice kids we could loose that revenue
for he next 6+ years. It's a short sighted fix and digs us into lower numbers
for years to come making us less profitable and more of a liability....
Fourth they would have to bus our kids down to northfield which I doubt they
have taken into consideration along with the cost that is associated with
that...
It's would be a big blow to us if they allow this and I encourage everyone to
reach out to school committee members and our select board and let them know
your thoughts on this matter!
