I saw Duncan on the ice around 4:30, listing heavily but still above water.
Looked again an hour later and poof! Gone.

Subject: [The-L] Duncan down!
Duncan, the concrete Scottish terrier, Leaned forward from his (?) woody
carrierThe ice thinned enoughHe(?) hit the wet stuffAnd submerged from his (?)
snout to his derriere
Although the rest of the main pond is still has a coated in ice, Ice-out, for
our purposes (porpoises) has been defined by Duncan punching through the ice.
That happened today. There were three contestants that chose today, all guessing
different but proxemic times. We need the best time information available to
figure the winner. I saw Duncan above the ice at 7:30 am, and he(?) had dunked
by the time I passed again at 5:00.There is a timer attached to Duncan, but I
neither feel confident in safely recovering it right now nor in the accuracy of
the timer (it's the cheapest analog watch I could find, I hope it's not
waterproof, but it could be more so than planned. Therefore, I'd like to try to
first rely on crowdsourcing to figure the winner among the three
contestants. Please let me know if you noticed the pup's presence or absence on
the pond today, and your closest estimation of that time. Maybe there's enough
info to declare a winner, rather than we all having to wait for me to recover
the watch timer.
Thanks, I'll let you all know how it turns out, Jim
