*April 15 (Thursday), 7:30 pm - Short Story Hour (Zoom)*: Isaac Asimov, the
master of science fiction if ever there was one, emigrated with his Russian
family to the U.S. in 1922 when he was two years old and grew up in
Brooklyn consuming all manner of books. At the height of his fame in 1974,
after dreaming he had published a collection of sci-fi stories from his
childhood (he never remembered dreams), he published *Before the Golden
Age: A Science Fiction Anthology of the 1930s*. Warwick Library has one of
only two copies in C/W MARS.
Join Warwick Librarian Ivan Ussach as he reads the first story in the
collection, "The Man Who Evolved," by Edmond Hamilton--first published in
the April 1931 issue of *Wonder Stories* magazine. This was the first
story, Asimov said, "that impressed me so much it stayed in my mind
permanently." Reading it again 42 years later, he recalled, "I found I
