Hi,

It seems that email support requests are no longer a possibility, probably
due to spamming. In order to raise an on-line support ticket you have to
have registered your FaderPort with its serial number and your contact
details then you can use the new ticket link at:

http://support.presonus.com/home

Obviously, I can’t do this for you, but here’s the text of what I’d like you
to submit so that we can try and get this going:

I’m a visually-impaired musician and I'm working with an accessibility
developer, Tim Burgess (tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxx), who is trying to improve access
to music technology for visually-impaired people. I'm currently beta testing
an application that allows control surfaces to talk – it offers
out-of-the-box support for Mackie Control, Logic Control, HUI and Frontier
Designs Tranzport protocols. It also allows a user to define any other
protocol by providing details of the MIDI messages used by any controller
device. I’m using Sonar, so need to set up my FaderPort using its native
protocol, but don’t have the MIDI implementation specification – can you
help, please?

If this information is not normally released to the public, could you please
consider contacting Tim who is prepared to sign any NDA agreements to
protect your intellectual property – the SurfaceReader application allows
the encryption of the MIDI implementation data for protocols where the
manufacturer has indicated that their implementation is not to be made
public.

Please let me know if you require any further information regarding this
request.

Best wishes.

Tim Burgess

Hello Tim…

I am attaching the PDF document. Not sure if the server will accept the
doc.

Hi,

Can you please pass along any links to documentation, or actual
documentation files, please? I haven’t come across this unit, so can’t
advise without more information.

Having said that, improving the extensibility of SurfaceReader is one of the
things I’m currently working on in order to support the FW1884 and Digi003,
so this is a timely request.

Best wishes.

Tim Burgess

Hi Tim…

The protocol is Native for Sonar. I’ve got the control surface working
under Sonar. Although, it took some searching on the forums. I’m not very
happy with the kind of support Presonus provides in its documentation. At
least, I was able to find a work around.

The Fader Port retails around $ 169.00 cad so it might be an inexpensive
option for persons looking for a portable control surface. It has 1 channel
strip with a motorized fader. So far, I like what I’m seeing. The rewind
and loop buttons are a bit quirky though so I’ll have to find a work around.

Anyways… if you have a means of coaching me on how to make the surface
accessible under Surface Reader that would be most excellent.

Thanks in advance…

Joël
