Options for dealing with shirt buttons:
--Once shirt is on and buttoned, unbutton only the top one or two
buttons and then take shirt off over the head. The next time it is
worn, it can be pulled on over the head.
--Have someone sew the cuff buttons on with elastic thread so there is
enough give to allow pulling the hands through without needing to deal
with cuff buttons.
--Sew the buttons on the shirt with elastic thread so there is more give
making them easier to maneuver.
--Have someone tack the buttonholes shut, and then sew the buttons on
top of the buttonholes. Put Velcro dots on the shirt under the buttons
so the shirt can be closed with Velcro.
--Switch to wearing polo shirts which don't require that the buttons be
buttoned.
Elastic thread is available in fabric stores and yarn shops.
A combination of these techniques could be used, as well, such as Velcro
behind the permanent top buttons and pulling the shirt over the head
while the rest stay buttoned.

Good afternoon,
Any tips for buttoning up a shirt when you are a 95 year old veteran
with legal blindness from macular degeneration and beginning to get
neuropathy on your hands?
Do people think that buttoning device that comes from occupational
therapy would help when you cannot feel the button hole?
Thanks,
Deanna
