Good news and bad news. Some of this will only be relevant to those
who haven't tried it yet.
1. After you tell IFTTT and Dropbox they can get cozy with each other
and share the digital love, entering IFTTT login information is
hellaciously hard. The typing experience is not your average
VoiceOver-assisted iOS typing experience. You don't hear what you
type, the Delete key doesn't announce what you delete, and the left
and right arrow keys don't speak what's in the email address field as
you move the cursor through it I tried it with both the on-screen
controls and a Bluetooth keyboard. Same behavior.Next, since an email
address is required, you'd expect the at symbol to appear on the
on-screen virtual keyboard in its usual place. No such luck. You have
to use the numbers keyboard to access it. That one was a hair-puller
for about ten minutes before I realized I wasn't nuts, it really does
want an email address, and that at symbol really is on the numbers
keyboard. Back to the Bluetooth keyboard for sure.
2. After I finally got signed in to IFTTT and told everybody
koom-by-yah share everything among everybody, the conversation pop-up
was still empty, which means something's not talkin' nice to something
else.
3. After all this frustration, which lasted well over half an hour,
when I pressed the "Done" button, I got a 500 server error that said I
should try again later. Seems I did get signed in, though, as the
sign-in screen for IFTTT did not reappear when I went back and tried
to turn the service on a second time.
4. OK, so now I know I'm signed in to Roger because I can listen and
talk, I know I'm signed in to Dropbox because I see my files, and I
know, or at least think I know, I'm signed in to IFTTT by nature of
the fact that I don't get the sign-in screen again as I just reported,
so if all three of these things are true and correct, then what the
bleeping hell else is wrong? Totally don't know, but man oh man is it
ever frustrating.
