Hi All,
I know some of you are Kontakt users, here's a couple of tips I'v just
discovered, one myself and one I found on the web.
1. As you know we have basic access for loading Kontakt patches, but
often all those knobs and sliders that are present in the myriad of
third party libraries are completely inaccessible as we simply don't
know they are there or can't find them with a mouse.
Initially you will need sighted assistance for this, but if you right
click on a knob or slider within a Kontakt Libraries GUI, and choose
midi learn, move the knob or slider on your midi controller that you
wish to assign, you should then have physical control. Do this for as
many controls as you require (or have knobs for!).
Once done, you can either save the patch (although I can't find a menu
option for this as I believe it's on the spanner/toolbox icon which we
don't currently have HSC access to). So instead save as a multi .NKM
file from the menu option.
The downside of this is that Kontakt creates (I believe) duplicates of
all the samples that go to make up that patch, this could be a problem
if you're low on disk space!
Unfortunately there is no way that you can simmply do this once for each
library, you will need to do it on a per patch basis (so speak nicely to
a friend as you could need their help for an hour or two!). Also be sure
to save your new multi somewhere you can easily find it again (I save
them alongside the standard patches within each individual library.
Using this method I've been able to access recallable parameters within
libraries that were previously inaccessible.
I apologise if some of you guys were already doing this, but it was news
to me!

How To Keep Previous Kontakt Versions
For The Cautious
Be it for development reasons, backwards compatibility, or simply
wanting to avoid the next possible bug, having multiple versions of
Kontakt on your machine can sometimes be a luxury you would like to have.
Kontakt allows this to be easily achieved due to the particular way new
versions are installed on your machine. Keeping any version of Kontakt
from being overwritten during an update can be done by simply renaming
the application file (as well as the individual plug in components
located in your relative plug in folders). For example, “Kontakt v5”.
