Hi Paul,

What Operating System are you using?

Don't know if the question is relevant or not but it may be!

Tony.

Wmp step 4 Burning a cd on windows media player

So you have stored about 50 cds on your computer and now you want to burn a cd

Lets say for example you want to make a cd of your favourite songs to listen
to on a long journey

Well we know that all the albums that we have stored so far are in the my
music folder

Do we know how to get to this?

1 insert a blank cd wait a few seconds til the drive calms down doing a
whirring thing

2 close the dialogue box that comes up.

There are other ways of doing this step but I have found this the quickest
simplest route and lets face it folks we don't want anymore stress from 21st
century gadgetry than we already have.

2 minimise to your desktop view , windows key and m

3 click on my computer and arrow til jaws says my music then press enter and
bingo your stored albums are listed

4 to burn specific tracks onto the blank cd,this is what you do

Take it nice and slow here

Right , deep breath and here we go with an example

We have a u2 album, a beatles album , a blur album and god forbid an oasis
album in the my music folder from all the cds we have been storing on the pc

We want to burn say 5 tracks from the u2 album

And 6 tracks from the beatles album

And 2 from the blur album

And just cos we feel sorry for them 1 from the oasis album

5 we open the my music folder, then the u2 album

Arrow to the track you want to burn and when it is highlighted

  Go to file

  arrow down to send to

then arrow across to cd drive

The pc is now copying that track over to the cd drive where it is going into
a list

This list known as a burn list is ..you got it , the tracks you are going to
be putting on the blank cd

While still in the u2 folder Repeat this step for the other tracks in the u2
album you want burned , we said we were going to do 5, well u2 are good but
they are not really that good!

  Remember

  With the u2 album opened

  Pick the track you want

Go to file , arrow down to send to and arrow over to cd drive

Tricky huh, but you'll get the hang of it, in time you may even be known as
king of the cdr!

Anyways, in all, in everything so we don't't get lost in the next steps, when
you are finished with the u2 tracks,

CLOSE THE U2 WINDOW but keep the my music folder open

6 Now repeat step 5 for the beatles album tracks you want to go to the blank
cd

Close the beatles album window but keep the my music folder open cos blur is
next isn't it

7 repeat step 5 for the tracks you wanted off the blur album and last but not
least do the same for the oasis album, and may god forgive you.

  8 have a cuppa we're nearly home

9 close all open windows and minimise to your desktop , windows key and m

10 open my computer and highlight the cd drive

Press file and arrow down til jaws says write these files to cd

You should hear the cd drive whirring around as it burns the tracks onto the
blank cd

11 a message box appears asking you to give this blank cd a name

You could type in anything , maybe various pop in this case

  12 click next

13 a box appears asking do you want to burn an audio or data cd

I'll go into that at a later date for now pick audio disc and click next

14 the cd drive will start whirring and the cd will eject when it is done

15 sit back , pop the cd on your cd player but whatever you do

Don't listen to the oasis track!

  Keep the faith!
