Hi Joe,
Yes, I use it. However I won’t recommend it. I mainly use it as a backup, or
to search for podcasts on iTunes that I don’t usually listen to.
How about WebbIE Podcaster? www.webbie.org.uk . Unlike QCast, it’s free. It’s
also being updated from time to time.
Now, we’ve been round on the podcasts topic before. here’s what I wrote last
year (1 September going back) in response to your queries then.
Additionally, I mentioned WebbIE just now, as some people are still using it
with satisfactory results. My message appearing first below was an addendum
to my previous message. The information I wrote, is still current.
1 September 2018 - My original and favourite podcast receiver for Windows
was (and still is) Juice. Here’s some info on it that’s still current.
I downloaded a Juice podcatcher before that worked on Windows7, and, after I
lost the URL, have just found it again. It is:
www.webbie.org.uk/juice
(Developed by Alasdair King, the developer of Webbie.)
- it takes care of the tinkering that you’d otherwise have to do to make
Juice work in Windows7, like running Juice in Windows XP compatibility mode
and changing the download directory to Users\User\YourUsername\Documents,
from the My Documents as in Windows7 etc. (Though a little more tweaking may
be necessary for Windows 10.) It’s a Windows MSI installer. If you go for
it, though, do please read his disclaimers and his instructions, which
clarify and are helpful. Then proceed.

Hi Joe,
Some of us computers in our leisure time as well!
Our smartphones, too. You have an iPhone? Would you be prepared to use tan
app (or apps) for catching podcasts on it? (There are several accessible
podcast apps any of which you would find useful for getting podcasts. I’ll
mention a few in a moment.
First, though, there are probably just two computer programs that cut the
mustard these days. These are: iTunes, and QCast. (QCast you would play for,
as the free version only allows to you receive one podcast1) Further, it is
no longer being dev eloped actively. (Last update was in 2013.)
For the iPhone/iPad, the main accessible pod-catchers are: Apple Podcasts –
natively provided by Apple on iOS already; Overcast – available from the App
Store, free and paid versions; DownCast – available from the App Store, free
and paid. I’ve used these, and they’re fine. But the podcatcher I like the
best is called RSSRadio, which I heard of from a recommendation via the RTÉ
Web site. (This app, too, is available from the App Store, free and paid
versions.)
Perhaps you could start by exploring Apple’s own Podcasts app on your
iPhone. The PC podcatching apps that were accessible – such as Juice,
and the aforementioned QCast – are, sadly, no longer recommendable because
they haven’t kept up with other Windows program technology.
HTH.
Flor.
