Hi Pauline,
I have tested the link below and it works. You can try it and see how it
goes for you. You should have no problem downloading the new version over
the old one.

Hello everyone,  Help needed.  I tried to upgrade to Avast 5 and ended up 
with two versions of same programme.

Did a system restore and Avast has disappeared.

Used link given by Paul to download new programme and it cannot be found on 
site.

When I go to the webbsit I only seem to get pro addition.
