Tony, that's because you've changed the message back to html. If you are reading emails in plain text, the links won't work. So I'm happy with that for as long as it continues to so do for me. I'm only trying to learn and hopefully pass on a little of what I know too. I'll finish my contribution to this thread now! Thanks Tony---- Original Message ----- From: Flor Lynch <mailto:florlync@xxxxxx> To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2009 1:09 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Adjusting settings for links Tony, even after you have unchecked the "read all messages in plain text" option, clicking or pressing enter on a link within an email in OE WON'T ALWAYS WORK. that's part of the story as well. I have had numerous experiences of it. One solution that works then - sometimes, anyway - is to route JAWS to PC cursor, and then with JAWS cursor inside the link url press the NumPadSlash key twice or 'double-click'. However, the simplest thing to do - when pressing enter doesn't work - is to use the JAWS links list feature and enter on or activate the desired link from there. If the link is shown in the JAWSKey+F7 list, it will work. If it is not shown there, then it was a matter of incorrect formatting from an original html link into plain text in the email one got. I trust that with this, everything about it has by now been explicated. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Sweeney" <deirton711@xxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2009 2:53 AM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Adjusting settings for links Flor, Thanks indeed for all that. That doesn't work as you intimate in Outlook of course as we all know now! Clicking on a revelant link provided in an email in OE then that will indeed work! Wouldn't it be good if the Jaws folk &/or Microsoft could make it that you could click on a link in an email in Outlook to get us to a site or email address quickly? Now if you had ever used outlook 2007 then that would set off another thread entirely! <grimmace> Tony ----- Original Message ----- From: Flor Lynch To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2009 2:14 AM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Adjusting settings for links Tony, No, I don't have Outlook 2007. But I do have experience of links in plain text email messages that don't work when simply entered on from within the email, and where JAWSKey-F7 does identify the link and thus enables one to go there. The principle is much the same. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Sweeney" <deirton711@xxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2009 1:43 AM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Adjusting settings for links Flor, Didn't have an email to check with in Outlook but I have no problem that the Jaws and F7 command link will work as described by The Mod himself! I was talking of the 'read messages in plain text' option which as far as I can see, is not in the options of Outlook! Must make that perfectly clear! Do you use Outlook 2007 for example? This should work in outlook 2007! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tony Sweeney" <deirton711@xxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, August 08, 2009 7:23 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Adjusting settings for links Hi Hazel, As intrepid as ever I decided to venture in to my Outlook 2007 and explored in there but nowhere in options and toolls is there to do what you require! (perhaps elsewhere in there? I unchecked the option in 'the read' page 'read message in plain text' and tried to activate the links feature but no joy either! It said 'only when using the virtual cursor on the internet'. I hope that someone can come up with the answer you want as I'd now like to have that facility for when I start using Outlook possibly as my default email client in the future. Outlook is supposed to be better than Outlook Express and so should bee as it is a paid-for where OE is free. OE is fine though for just sending/receiving emails. As the demon mailer might say "I've given up, sorry it didn't work out!" If you can understand why I switched, please let me know!!! Grin. I will try to switch over, and that might iron the problem out. Smile. However, if there are any MS outlook users out there and know how to access links, please let me know the buttons to push. I myself will now stop digging! <smile> I have Outlook but really only use OE! I had that problem in OE and sorted it thankfully. Yep it is great to be able to hit on a link that works there in an email that's for sure! Flor may be using Outlook. ----- Original Message ----- From: Hazel Flannigan To: vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 06, 2009 7:43 PM Subject: [vip_students] Adjusting settings for links Hi, Flor, and Tony, I have entered the MS outlook settings, and have clicked onoptions. However, the list of pages are different in my computer. I have Preferences - e-mail settings, mail format, spellings, security and other. My operating system is Windows EXP. Does this make a difference? Or am I sitting in the wrong area? Any pointers will be valued. Hazel. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. We are a community of 6 million users fighting spam.
