Hi Roger,
I was looking to do two different things. First to upload music I'd written
and played, and to find a way to use the uploaded tracks to raise funds for
a charity I work with outside the world of sight impairment.
Secondly, to join in with other musicians playing together over the
internet.

Firstly, I am sure that all questions, however basic you might feel they
are, are welcome given they relate to the purpose of this list.
No doubt people will offer a range of solutions, however it might be helpful
to know exactly what you are wanting to achieve. For example, do you have or
want to have a website from where music is shared or do you want to have a
list of email addresses where the music is sent to those who have expressed
an interest.
Perhaps stating something which is unnecessary, do ensure the music is
either out of copyright or is originated by yourself or that you have
permission to share it.
Regarding your second point, as far as I am aware, many instances of virtual
music-making is done by the creation of separate files by singers, for
instance, and then put together by someone. There are plenty of examples of
this type.
The other way is to try to make music with people joining virtually and
creating a performance together much as you would if you were together in a
venue. This last is to what I think you are referring where Skype and Zoom
have proved problematic as mentioned by Sarah in recent postings. You may,
of course know of others who to have had this experience.

Hello all,
Please excuse me if his is technically too elementary for people on here. I
have two things I'd like to learn to do from scratch.
1. If I record a piece of music, how is the most straightforward and
accessible way to share it with others by uploading onto the internet?
2. I've heard a lot about people playing together online from their
own homes, but the only thing I've heard in any detail is that Zoom doesn't
work well because there is delay and the musicians can't easily synchronise.
So, how would I play, say in a virtual jamming session?
I'm afraid you'll have to go back to basics to tell me how the internet side
of things is done. I'm not asking about how to record the music in the first
place.
