Hi guys.
Despite what people might think, most phone calls and Internet is Still sent
over copper wires and very rarely uses satellite.
Copper wires don’t really present much of a delay, as anyone that uses a
landline telephone will know, Apart from if you are making international calls,
which will sometimes have a small Delay.
The biggest problem comes from converting analog signal to digital At each end,
as well as sending the signal over the Internet, because it’s usually sent in
small chunks rather than one whole file And then reassembled at the other end.
This introduces various delays.
I was wondering if anybody has ever tried using two landline telephones or
several with Some kind of conference call using landlines.
The sound quality wouldn’t be brilliant, but you could then try singing along
to the same backing track, and all recording your own voice separately, then
assembling it later.
Also if you could do this in a way that you only record each persons voice and
not loads of versions of the backing track, that would probably give a better
result, as long as you’ve got a marker at the beginning to synchronise them all
when you reassemble it.
I should add that I’m not a singer and not really a musician, but I’ve done a
lot of recording in the past, but not so much now.
