Hi Steve,

I was thinking of sticking pretty close to the original arrangement, except
in two respects, but there's no reason why we can't try it both ways - close
to the original and improvised, and see what works best.

Those two respects are: Whoever wants to try the lead solo has freedom to
put their own stamps on it/. We may end up with more than one mix with a
different good solo, and that would be OK. Also, I reckon I'll probably fade
the ending out with that harmony and counterpoint that includes the God Only
Knows reference, rather than protracting the ending as we did on that
oritinal recording. In the next couple of days, I plan to put up a spoken
Mp3 giving my ideas of how I hear the song in my head, though it's pretty
close to the original, which deserves to be recorded in with pristine sound.
I think the demo I have is probably a third or fourth generation copy and
full of hiss, but it's still the best that survives.I'd like a strong
recording.

Hi Dave & All,

No worries, I thought Clive mentioned it before but, I probably wasn't
paying close enough attention smiles.  I'm happy to have done the bass on it
and would like to give some of the other guitarists the opportunity to lay
down a track.  If no one does, then I'll come up with something but, I'd
like someone else to have a go.

Just as a matter of interest Clive are you wanting the song to sound as
close as possible to the original?  Or are you open to a little
improvisation?

Hi, Steve,

Don't think it was me on the original recording. I think it was the guy who
played bass, John Hemsley, or similar name, so I'm not possessive! As I
said, I thought it was open to everybody. I've got a busy day teaching and
actually attempting a band rehearsal with Clive and others and won't get a
chance to do anything till tomorrow or Wednesday, so if you're all fired
up,give it a whirl!

Hi Guys,

OK, ridiculous night last night.  Just could not sleep so I've been up from
around 4 am this morning.  So, with a bit of time on my hands, I've looked
at your track again Clive.  I'm also wanting to get rid of this Ibanez bass
as I'm eager to get my new Schecter bass so wanted to get it done.  I've now
done it using Johns drum track.  Clive, I hope this is along the lines of
what you wanted.  I've uploaded the bass track to the newly formed folder
where you can find it in the Parts sub folder.  I've also put in another
folder which I've called Working Mixes which, I thought is where we can put
in a guide mix for others to add in their parts.  I just, also, wanted to
have a little play with the EQ'ing and have added a bit of top end into the
drum part to sparkle it up in the mix.  So, this one has the drums plus my
bass part ready for whomever is going to start on the guitar parts.  Dave?
Is that going to be you?  Or, is it open for anyone to have a go?  Am I
right in thinking you did the original guitar parts?  I know Peter, you'll
probably EQ everything in the final mix.
