Hi Larry. I am blind as well and require voice navigation and
text-to-speech. I both own the Kindle paperwhite eReader with audio
over bluetooth and several Kindle Fire tablets. Both work well,
however, the Fire tablet is more versatile and for my druthers, I'd go
with the Fire tablet. In fact, I peruse all of my email each morning
first with my Fire tablet and read all of these message threads on the
Kindle. The default email app on the Fire tablet is really a good one
and easy to navigate.
This morning, I also took a look at Facebook and the stories on my
installed NPR app. Often I will check out a podcast or two as well.
Usually done by asking Alexa to bring up the apps or podcasts. Alexa
will even read your email back to you!
Saying all this, I also own three Kindle Keyboard eReaders, two I got
used from eBay $18 bucks in the door and one that I bought new in
2010. In fact, I still use that eReader to read all of my Kindle books
which I convert with CODEX. All of my books are gotten from the Ohio
Online Digital Library and converted. Haven't purchased a Kindle book
in four years.
At one time I had a subscription to the Columbus, Ohio Dispatch
newspaper which I read each morning on the Kindle Keyboard. I'm sure
you can do the same thing today with the Fire tablet if so desired.
If it's books or magazines you are interested in, the National Library
for the Blind and Print Disabled (United States) Bard Mobile app which
you can install on the Fire tablet is great. I have a ton of books
waiting on my wish list with BARD just waiting for me to read.
Currently reading a book on Windows 10. That's the skinny.

particular interest in web brousing with it but would take all features if
