I agree with you about the sound quality of the Echo for playing music.
However, it is wonderful for playing Bard books from my iPod or iPhone. Now,
the $49 Echo-Dot is a bit of a game changer. I have a Bose speaker which is
more than ten years old and sounds fantastic, but does not have bluetooth
capability. Before the Echo-Dot was released, I used a bose bluetooth adapter
and this worked very well. Now my Echo-Dot does double duty as working as
bluetooth for my older Bose speaker and I have all the functionality of an Echo.
One other thing, it might be more than possible to have Amazon’s unlimited
music subscription, download the Amazon music app to an iOS device and
bluetooth the content to a better quality bluetooth speaker.

then I do have a b and w dock and bose sound touch. I also have an ice chess
that has 3 speakers about 6/9 and it is about 100 watts, really sounds great.
