Forgive me for probably asking questions that others have asked on the list
before. If you want to just point me to resources I can look at, that is
fine as well.
My husband is a member of this list and told me about a great deal lots of
people are taking advantage of by getting the Amazon Fire 7 tablet for
either $50 or $70. I actually got the bundle for $87, because I wanted the
16-gB one. It should arrive on Saturday. I have wanted a tablet, and this
seemed like a great deal. I already have an Echo dot so am familiar with
Alexa. Now here are my questions:
1. Once I get the Fire, will I need sighted help to enable text to
speech, or how is that done?
2. 2. What can I do accessibly on the Fire? What I mean is, can I
accessibly do e-mail, facebook, access prime movies, etc.? Can I surf the
Web? I know I can read kindle books accessibly. Is audible book reading
also accessible? I would assume so, especially if I can use alexa to do
this. I guess maybe the better question is, what can't I do as a blind
person?
3. 3. Is the screen reader built in, which I assume it is, or do I
need to download something like Talkback to make this work?
4. 4. Finally, and I don't hold out much hope for this, but just in
case it is possible, I don't want to bypass the possibility: Is it at all
possible to use a braille display? I would imagine not, and I got it
figuring this would not be possible, but again, one never knows for sure
unless one asks the questions
Thanks for the answers to any of these questions, and what I don't know, I
figure I'll learn fairly quickly, as technology is my friend. Looking
