Eloquence is working fine with VoiceDream on my Fire.
However you need to download it from the Google Play Store. It is not available
on the Amazon App Store.
I copy below the thread from another list I am on which discusses this and
includes a link to William’s blog which details putting the google Play Store
on a Fire.
As an update.
• I have now enabled Eloquence on my Fire Tablet and can confirm that it works
very nicely with voiceDream Reader.
• I have personally set it to 225 words per minute which gives me reasonably
rapid easy listening.
• However
• Following Sean’s questions I attached my iPhone wired earphones and unlike on
the WileyFox Swift Android phone the pause button did not work on the Fire.
This for me is not really that much of an issue as the fire is certainly an
armchair device for me.
Essentially start the book playing in voice Dream. You can then safely lock the
screen and the book will continu to play.
To pause playing I find that pressing the unlock button, two finger swipe up to
unlock the screen and you should find focus is still on the pause /play button
and single finger double tapping pauses the book instantly.
Remember you need the Google Play store installed to get both voice Dream and
Eloquence installed on the Fire.

I just downloaded and saved the necessary files from my PC onto a micro SD card
and put that into my Fire and used the S Explorer program to run the files.
I think the blogger was using an an OTG connection because his Fire did not
have an SD Card slot.
It does not matter how you get the files on I think you just need to run them
in the order he recommends.

I thought some may find this of some interest.
I have installed Voice dream Reader on my Kindle fire 7 and actually so far
the experience seems if anything smoother than on Stock Android.
Voice Dream is useful as an ePub Reader on the Fire. In theory it should
also work with all the file types of books, Daisy, Audio documents etc as
with other versions of voice Dream on other platforms. In theory it could
even be used as a Music Player and would certainly have more accessible
navigation features I think than something like VLC on the Fire. So far
however I am only using it as an ePub Reader. The experience is not
identical to voice Dream on iOS but is pretty good nevertheless.
Intriguingly I opted to use the Graham Voice and for anybody concerned with
audio volume output on earphones the volume achieved was significantly higher
than that available with the default Google TTS.
I was pleased that loading an ePub book from DropBox was simplicity itself.
When you double tap add document a whole series of import options came up
reliably. On my older Android device this had not worked so smoothly so
Possibly Voice Dream had updated.
To navigate books you need to either
- Select navigation unit and then use the previous and next buttons to move
through the book or
- Use the percentage slider - I personally found this very fiddly or most
reliably
- Use the percentage button which opens up into an edit box where you can
type the percentage of the book you want to move to.
There are all the other bookmarking and audio control settings but I have not
tested them yet. So far though it seems good.
If you have Voice Dream Reader on another Android device you will be able to
download it for Free on your Fire.
Finally voice Dream is of course not available in the Amazon Apps Store as I
do not think Amazon really want you to be using alternative Book Readers
separate to Audible or Kindle so you need to install the Google Play Store on
your Fire to access voice Dream.
This was very easily done however.
I personally used the instructions available from a blog on
http://www.williambrandes.com/blog/?BlindAccess
The blog contains a link to all the files you need to download.
I actually found the process easier than that described in the blog. There
are for files to install using S Explorer which you must download first
from the Amazon App Store as a file manager, but personally I did not have to
keep resarting the Fire after each install. I just installed the 4 files in
order and the Google Play Store was immediately available amongst my apps.
Google also sent me an email saying |I could now use the You Tube app on my
Fire if I wanted so this is a way of getting around the battle between
Amaazon and Google about YouTube apparently.
