OK, I absolutely didn't expect for this to happen, but boy am I glad it did so!
I'm super impressed!
I had downloaded and installed the Vocalizer TTS engine on my S8 Plus, but I'd
forgotten to download any of the actual voices themselves. So, I went over to
the TTS settings in the phone itself, (Not the vocalizer voices settings, I'm
talking about the actual settings within Android Nougat itself.) Anyway, I
selected Vocalizer. Yeah, you're probably thinkin' Ow'w, God! This isn't gonna
be pretty since you forgot to install any voices. Yeah? You'd think so,
wouldn't ya. Well, actually? no! This thing not only popped up on the screen
telling me that no voices were installed, and offered me a chance to go install
at least one of them, but, Talkback didn't seace to speak either! What happened
was, it actually reverted to the Samsung TTS engine that by default comes on
the device.
That! to me, is impressive! Instead of me losing speech and having to wait on
Mom to get me out of my pickle, it detected that under normal condition, it
would a crashed my speech, and therefore, it didn't let that happehn.
So, man! Just another reason why I'm falling head over heals in freaking love!
with Talkback, and with Android, in a whole! Further, my Tom voice pro quality
just finnished downloading/installing, and goodness! gracious! Man this voice
sounds good over here! I don't remember him being this clear! Perhaps it's the
sound audio subsystem within the S8 Plus, but, wow! I'm loving this!
Chris.
