Many shorebird species migrate through central Virginia in late March on the way to the Arctic breeding grounds. The best place to see them is Crewes Channel, the pond at the Malvern Hill unit of Richmond National Battlefield Park in Henrico County.

I will lead a trip there at 1:00 p.m. on March 26. Go east on Route 5 from Richmond . Start looking  for brown colored park sign  a little after driving alongside Curles Neck Farm and take a left onto Willis Church Road. Take a left at the curve and park at the parking lot where you will be behind a row of cannons .Using their van Jan and Tom Robertson will shuttle groups of birders back down the road a half mile to the fire road where we will stand and observe the migrants and the arrival of the March to early Fall Spotted Sandpipers. Contact Tyler Turpin at tylerturpin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for more info if needed.

Bob and Art please get this on the field trip portion of the  RAS website
