Linda and I were in the Gordonsville area today and decided to run out to
the Green Springs area and check on short-eared owls. We went to the usual
sighting location on Rt. 617 and arrived there about 15 minutes before
sundown. We weren't disappointed. A few minutes after our arrival a
short-eared appeared, flying in the field in front of us. Shortly after the
first one, a second owl appeared in the field behind us and when they were
both in the same field we were able to clearly hear them communicating with
each other.
This was the most vocalization we've heard from them
