Walked around Tucker Park in Maidens fora couple of hours this morning. I
saw 5 warbler species (Prothonotary, Yellow-rumped, Palm, Yellow-throated,
and Common Yellowthroat), 4 sparrow species (Chipping, Field,
White-throated, and Swamp), and 2 swallow species (Cliff and Tree). The
Cliff Swallows are nesting in the overpass again, but there's construction
being done on part of it. I don't know if they're going to do the side
they're nesting in. I also observed nesting and probable nesting behavior
by the following:
A pair of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers (watched them building)
A Tree Swallow (fluttering around me while I was in front of a Bluebird
nest box)
A Field Sparrow (sang the entire time I was there from the same perch high
in a tree)
A Yellow-throated Warbler (carrying nesting material).
The full list follows. There's a picture of the Gnatcatcher nest on eBird
in progress (not a great pic) and one of the Yellow-throated Warbler
carrying nesting material (great photo, though he's in profile).
