The Great Backyard Bird Count is coming up February 17 - 20. You can find information about participating on the web site for the program: http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/ Richmond Audubon has three events to make participation fun and easy - pick your favorite day or location and join us - or come out for all three: Friday - Forest Hill Park with Sue Ridd. Meet Sue in the Parking lot at 8:00 AM Saturday - Louis Ginter Botanical Garden and other Richmond sites with Tyler Turpin. Meet Tyler at 8:00 AM in the Rotunda of the Visitor Center. There is a $6 fee for the initial phase of this event. Sunday - James River National Wildlife Refuge with Lewis Barnett. Meet at the refuge information kiosk, 4550 Flowerdew Hundred Road, Hopewell, VA, at 8:00 am. Travel costs are reimbursable from our Chapter Collaboration grant for Rusty Blackbird surveys within the Lower James River IBA, so we ask that you email me (blbarnett3@xxxxxxxxx) to register for this trip. Even if you don't come out for one of the organized trips, you can participate on your own wherever you are - just keep track of what you see and hit the web site to enter your observations. Richmond traditionally has great participation in this count, so let's keep the tradition going.
