Our yard birds haven't been unusual so far this winter, but the number of White-throated Sparrows has surpassed counts in past years. We counted over 50 birds in the yard this weekend and that was just the ones we could see! The yard was alive with them, with a good measure of juncos, cardinals and Mourning Doves in the mix. As if to balance the large number of White-throated Sparrows, we've had very few goldfinches. It's always fun to watch! Caroline Coe Chesterfield County
