Arun,

The banding field is about 1.25-1.5 miles from the Visitors' Center, out the main Dutch Gap trail. You walk along the trail (dirt road) until you reach the 1 mile marker, where the trail veers off sharp left (continuing straight would run you into a fence in about 100 yds). The trail then passes one open field on the left fairly quickly. That's not it. Continue on the trail (it will come closer to the water) and you'll pass a slightly-obscured dock where the trail bears sharp right. Stay on the trail which quickly goes around a short bend to the left. After the bend, the banding field opens on your left (and can be confirmed by the presence of a number of net poles sticking up above the tall grass etc., plus banding signs). Continue on the trail to the end of the field and make a left just in front of the tree line. Walk in 75 feet and look for the flycatcher. Good luck.

Bob

Imagine my surprise in coming on apparent ash-throated flycatcher at Dutch Gap
this afternoon around 1:30. It was foraging quite successfully at the far side
of the banding field, about 75 feet in from the road,

Where is the banding field Bob?

Thanks,
Arun Bose
