Greetings,
This posting is late. I have been having email issues with Verizon. I hope this
goes thru.
We visited Chincoteague and the wildlife refuge and beach over Thanksgiving.
Highlights:
Snow Geese—close to 1,000 in Tom’s Cove just off the beach parking area at the
southern end of the parking area.
Snow Bunting on the beach. We saw it on Sunday, Nov. 29 in the morning on the
beach near the end of the parking lot near the entry to the over sand road.
Merlin—Friday, along Beach Road, perched in a tree. Others commented having
seen Merlins this time of the year as they migrated thru.
Snow Goose Pool had very little water (not sure how long the rain that started
early Sunday morning lasted, or how much it added to the pool) and had lots of
vegetation.
The Wash Flat Road was open, but it was a very unproductive drive on Saturday,
Nov. 28.
