This evening while visiting with company in the yard, we began to hear a
bird calling a repetitious call in the woods. While I believe I have heard
a similar call before, this was the first time since birders from TN
demonstrated a saw-whet owl call for us. I was suspicious that was what we
were hearing. I called the boys to see if they could remember more clearly
the demonstration, and to get their opinion of the call.
While listening, we saw the bird fly three times. We couldn't identify the
flying bird, but it could have been a saw-whet. Between what we heard, saw,
and the description of the call in a book, we feel that is what we
heard/saw.
