Monday afternoon I was sitting on a bench by the trail below the dam at
Greenfield park (Botetourt County) and saw a pair of Baltimore Orioles
building a nest on the end of a branch practically over my head. Seems
like they would have picked a more private place. Must go back soon and
see how things are progressing. I heard them chattering before I
actually saw them. They may have been upset with me for invading their
privacy. But after a while they decided I wasn't a threat and came back
to their task. What a privilege to witness such a beautiful sight.
This is only the third time in my life that I have seen these marvelous
birds.
