Spent 30 minutes at the Buckland Mill Market (Route 29 near the Prince
William/Fauquier county line) today from 7:10 to 7:40 AM. Lots of
typical birds. Overflight by a Great Blue Heron and several airplanes.
No raptors, no vultures, and no kites.
A female Scarlet Tanager flew from the trees SE of the market into the
bushes NW of the market, and returned a minute later carrying nesting
material. Probable nest location in the trees towards the SE.
Has anyone else seen the kites this year, at this location, since the
initial 2007 sighting about a month ago? I've "missed" them 3 times so far.
