After I sent my message on 4/21 about my first Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
(male), I saw him (or another?) come back many times throughout the
afternoon. Towards evening a female appeared at the feeder briefly. My
brother-in-law in Franklin County says he has noticed that the males
nearly always hover while feeding whereas the females usually perch. And
that is what happened on Saturday with our two visitors. Has anyone else
noticed this behavior?
