Perhaps a more experienced birder can help me with this gull ID:
While walking around Henricus Park/Dutch Gap Conservation Area in
Chesterfield County on Saturday morning, I observed a flock of smaller gulls
flying low over the tidal lagoon, exhibiting tern-like behavior (occasionally
plunging into the water bill first). They were primarily white, with a narrow
band of black along the edge of the tail, and a black spot behind the eye. The
legs were pinkish-red. Were these most likely first-year Bonaparte's Gulls?
