Hello all,
I'm soliciting your help with a situation a relative is having with a white
dove up near Pittsburgh, PA (I'm sorry, I know it's not VA, but I thought you
folks might have some ideas on this).
Back in June, what appears to be a white dove came to the house (in
Pittsburgh). It doesn't have any tags on it and it is mostly white with a
couple of brown spots. Their assumption was that it came from a wedding (one
that might have released doves). The bird doesn't affiliate with other doves
and is at least twice their size; similar in size to a pigeon. It has lived
since then on the back porch of the house - up in the eves.
The birds on this page were the only photographic hint of what this bird looked
like, so I will pass this along as well:

But, it's getting really cold in Pittsburgh, and the relatives are getting
concerned that he will freeze to death. So, their questions are:
- Will it freeze to death if they shoo him away?
- Should they build a shelter/coop? If so, how would they do that?
- It poops a lot all over the porch - is their a solution to that?
Please respond off the listserv to me at "grebe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
Thanks!
