A male Ruby-throated Hummingbird finally returned, showing up at the feeder
this evening. A short walk at 6 pm turned up two more new arrivals to the abbey
forest: Wood Thrush and Ovenbird. There was also a male Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, 5 Blue-headed Vireos, 2 Gnatcatchers and a Black-and-White Warbler
in the forest.
There were 5 female and 1 male Purple Finches at the feeders today, and 3 male
Turkeys were displaying to 12 females this morning out in our big hayfield, who
paid them no heed at all and continued to search for insects.
