I spent the day in King George and Westmoreland
Counties from about 8AM to 7:30 PM Sunday, Sept
17.
1. At King George ponds as the fog was lifting
along route 3 there were very few birds.  There
was almost no bare shoreline along the ponds so I
saw no shorebirds there.  Higlights here were 3
blue-winged teal, 2 female ring-necked ducks, 1
male ruddy duck, a pied-billed grebe, and some
nice views of eagles.
2. IN Westmoreland County I spent the entire time
in the vicinity of Leedstown on private lands
managed for wildlife. Highlights here were
yellow-bellied flycatcher, 18 warbler species
(see list below) including my latest record of
yellow-throated warbler, my earliest record of
ruby-crowned kinglet, a shoveler, a pectoral
sandpiper and semipalmated plover with 133
