Several people have written asking about the Bobolinks at Lorton. I tried to
answer several people, including Barbara Rhode, but I can't e-mail people with
an AOL address because AOL has determined that "I am sending bulk e-mail" to
its customers and has bounced back e-mails to Ben Jesup, Kurt Gaskill, and now
Barbara. What gives? Perhaps the reference to BREEDING Grasshopper Sparrows
at Lorton in an e-mail was considered too pornographic to be viewed by Ben's
delicate and sensitive eyes. How do I redeem myself in the eyes of AOL? I
can't use the listserve as a conduit for personal messages.
Anyway, Barbara- I was reluctant to post about the Bobolinks because we were
granted access to the restricted area to do our survey on the 10th.
Unfortunately, I did not know that there is no place to park along Silverbrook
Road. Which means the only way to see the birds is through a drive by I guess.
The nape of the males really stands out at a distance when the birds are
flying.
Ben- Can't do Dyke tomorrow because it's my 18th Wedding Anniversary and my
parents are coming down to help us celebrate. By the way, good posting on the
future of Lorton- I posted a response.
Okay, until I realize what I have done to offend AOL, I guess my only recourse
is to contact AOL addressees by phone.
