Va-Birders: I came home last night to 5 male cardinals in our back yard -
all in one small area - quite a sight. I'm not sure if the one female was
impressed or not :-)
Then under our feeder in the front (about 15-20 feet from the front door) I
had 2 song sparrows and 2 towhees! Yup - 2 towhees just hanging out in the
open under the feeder picking up the dropped seeds. What a sight from my
front door. I actually had to do a double take - I've seen our one backyard
towhee in the bushes from time to time but I've never seen a towhee so out
in the open - never mind two at once.
And, I almost forgot, the other morning the pileated pair was out back - the
male on the feeder and the female at our bird bath. It was a perfect way to
start the day.
Seems spring has sprung for everyone!
Enjoy the birds and the wonderful weather.
Cheers, Janet Martin
