A male White-winged Dove sang from the corner of Monroe Avenue and Pine
Street in Cape Charles at 1620 this afternoon, then flew to the corner of
Tazewell
Avenue and Pine Street, where it is singing now. I took a few photographs.
This is the third year in a row for the species here, all photographed. I
don't have any recent reports of the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher that was present
ca. 20-25 May (or so) from the southern tip of the peninsula, but Brian Taber
noted four Dickcissels at Kiptopeke S.P. yesterday, and I found one at
Latimer Siding (nearby) while doing a BBS route a week ago. They seem to be
annual
here now in spring, probably breeding (Brian saw a female).
Tropical Storm Barry brought a brief bout of 20+ knot winds, but I did not
see any seabirds of note.
