Tina Trice and I spent yesterday morning at James River Park in Richmond
at the 42nd street entrance. Best bird was a male CAPE MAY WARBLER
alerted to us by Arun Bose and Paul Bedell. We ended up with 14 species
of warblers. Later on, at Henricus Park in Chesterfield County, we
heard but did not see both COMMON MOORHEN and LEAST BITTERN in the
marsh.
This morning's walk at Appomattox Riverside Park in Dinwiddie County was
very productive with 17 species of warblers highlighted by great looks
at a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER and a singing BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER. Also
present were 4 species of vireo- WARBLING, RED-EYED, YELLOW-THROATED and
BLUE-HEADED. Both days yielded about 90 species. Good birding.
