Hello--
Took a walk this evening on the path along The Glade in Reston. I was
treated to a veery singing! I'd never heard one except on the Peterson's CD,
so
hearing one in the woods was a real treat for me as I'm still sort of new to
birding. It was so ethereal and unusual, it's hard to believe that it comes
from a
bird and not some strange panpipe. If you want to hear it for yourself, and
you know Reston, the bird was on the north bank of The Glade, around bridge No.
48, which is between Soapstone Drive and the path that leads up to
Leatherwood Drive. Maybe it'll hang around a bit. Also heard several wood
thrushes and
a pileated woodpecker, plus lots of birdy babies.
Cheers,
Liz Koozmin
