At least one and possibly two White-winged Scoters are at Pohick Bay this
morning as well as a female Long-tailed Duck and three female Goldeneyes. The
Long Tailed 2 goldeneyes and Scoter were in a small patch of open water
directly out from the boat launch (where the fire boat is stationed). The
third goldeneye was part of a huge flock of mixed ducks, geese and coots south
of the kayak ramp. This flock included all three mergansers, canvasback, ring
necked, redheads, ruddies, bufflehead, gadwall, am wigeon, black duck, pintail,
mallard, lesser scaup. Behind this was a group of 42 Great Blue Herons on the
far shore.
I arrived at 7:30 17 degrees
Left at 9:30 18 degrees
