I was there this morning in the rain, but did not see the Avocets. I was there
about 9 am, and by then the tides covered much of the mud areas. Consolations
were 2 flyby Black-crowned Night Herons, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, and a short
dog-fight between a Peregrine Falcon and 2 different Bald Eagles near the only
bit of sandy mud flat not yet covered by water. I will try to check back later
today when there is another low tide. The GPS for this exact spot is not known
by me, but these were on the net for Jones Point Park and Belle Haven Park -
Hunting creek in between.

Alexandria, on the George Washington Parkway, just north of Dyke Marsh/Belle
Haven, where Hunting Creek joins the Potomac River.

Please? Where is Hunting Creek? Before I search the VA map it would be
useful to know the county. & maybe a near-by town?

Hi all,
Currently there are two very bright AMERICAN AVOCETS at Hunting Creek
flats,
also one SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
Good birding!
Mikey
