VA-birders,
I thought I would take a moment and remind everyone that there are some
normal listserve protocols that make life easier for all:
* Always show your name, location, and e-mail address at the end of the
notes that you post.
* If you have questions for an individual that does not pertain to
everyone on the listserve, send a note directly to the individual and do
not "reply" to the entire listserve.
* If you reference a particular park or other location, assume that
others have not been there and post directions. Alternately, you can post
a webpage address where they can find a map. As a minimum, please list
the county or city of the specified location.
Another suggestion for those seeking details about almost any subject ---
Search engines can take you to webpages that frequently (but not always)
have more precise details than what you can get from our wonderful
subscribers who are trying to help you with what they know. I use Yahoo
and other search engines to get directions and maps to most of the parks
mentioned on the listserve. Of course, directions to a particular bend in
the river or other landmark where a sighting has occurred will have to
come from individuals.
Other helpful guidelines may be issued when the new listowner is
on-board. We are also recommending that a webpage be set up with details
about subscriving, unsubscribing, and other listserve commands.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We sure had a great time along
the Outer Banks, and the Dovekie sightings were fabulous. Hopefully, some
of the participants will post their trip highlights.
