I did my usual walk this afternoon on Buffalo Road, Alpine Road, and Frontage
Road here in Botetourt County between Buchanan and Natural Bridge.
Since it was later in the day I didn't expect to see much, but at around 3:00 a
GOLDEN EAGLE appeared over Short Hills, soaring high and heading north towards
the center of the ridge. About fifteen minutes later, two eagles came back
towards the southern tip of the mountain.
Shortly after starting the walk today, I thought I heard the call note of the
PALM WARBLER that's been hanging out on Frontage Road the past two weeks, but I
didn't see the bird until I came all the way back around.
